Between the Frogs and the Flies PB

Paul describes in Romans 1:29-32 a list of sins that cannot be taken lightly. Sandwiched in the middle of these “big sins,” we find a pesky little word-“gossips,” or “whisperers.” One might ask, how could simple gossip be listed among sins like murder and hatred of God? How could tiny gnats be listed on the same page as the river turning to blood or firstborn children being killed? Could it be that similar to a gnat, whispered gossip can swarm? Could it be that something that seems too small and ineffective could actually grow, morphing into something considerably deadlier?
